How do you get comfortable in the uncomfortable?

 Have you ever started learning something that interests you & once you began, you realized that it was a lot harder to do than you expected & maybe not as fun at that point… You are not alone. This is part of learning anything new or incorporating a new habit to get rid of a current habit.

This feeling you are facing is a feeling of Discomfort. Its totally natural & it happens when we are doing new things were not really use to doing.

What can we do in order to get better at being “cool” with being uncomfortable.

  • Cold showers

  • Breathing exercises

  • Sitting still

  • Meditation

  • Yoga

  • Hot sauna

Cold Showers

  • Feeling all cozy in the morning, get right into the cold water & practice every morning

Breathing exercises

  • what is the last time that you worked on inhaling through your nose then out of your mouth or just practice some nostril breathing, try it out & 5 minutes to start is plenty.

Sitting still for 5-10 min

  • whats the last time you sat & didn’t get any electronic stimulation? probably a long time, just sit & breathe.

Meditation

  • This is a combination of breathing & sitting still, you can pray like this too if thats more your style. Breath, say your prayers in your head & sit still. It works great since it combines two actions in 1.

Yoga

  • Yoga is great because at some point in the practice you are going to get into a very uncomfortable stretch & there we learn to try to be relaxed in these uncomfortable positions. Try hot yoga or doing it outside on a sunny day to kick things up a notch.

Hot sauna or Steam sauna

  • These are also great & if you have never done it before, 5 minutes might be enough to put you over the edge. These are also great for your skin & helps detox the body.

These all have a mental strengthening component attached to them & will help your ability to deal with the uncomfortable situations life puts us in daily, on our quest to become the best version of ourselves.
